UtilForge in your assistant.

UtilForge exists to make a safer online world for everyone, with free cybersecurity tools that work on your own phone or computer.

The short answer. UtilForge.org Check First is a free plugin that brings ten UtilForge checks into Claude, the artificial intelligence assistant made by Anthropic. It has nowhere to send what you check, so it stays on your device. Your assistant does see what you paste into the conversation, as it does with anything you type.

What it checks

  • Before You Paste a Command. A page says “verify you are human” and tells you to press keys and paste something. It reads the command or the page’s instructions and lists the warning signs, and gives the steps to take if it was already run.
  • Check a Message. A text, email, WhatsApp or social media message asks for money, a code, a tap or a call. It lists the common signs of a scam and what to do instead.
  • Before You Pay. Six questions and a reading of the page’s small print before a card number goes in. When money is being taken that you did not agree to, it writes the messages to your bank and the company.
  • What to Do Next. The first step after a QR code, a phone call, a fake check, a tapped link or a payment, and the official place to report in each country.
  • Hide Names Before Asking an Artificial Intelligence. Swaps names, phone numbers, emails and addresses in a file for labels such as [NAME 1] on your own computer, so the assistant only sees the labels, then puts the real details back into the reply.
  • Find the Real Email in a Sign-up Flood. When hundreds of sign-up emails arrive at once, it writes the searches to type into Gmail, Outlook.com, Apple Mail or Yahoo Mail to find the one real order, payment or password email they hide, and what to check next.
  • Hidden Details in Files and Photos. What a PDF, Word, Excel or PowerPoint file or a photo can carry beyond what shows on the page, and the free tools that check and clean it on your own device.
  • Driving Data Letter. Writes a letter asking a car maker, a data broker or an insurer what driving data it holds, to stop sharing it or to delete it, under the law where you live. You send it yourself.
  • Family Safe Word. How a family safe word works, and a printable card made without the word appearing in the conversation.
  • Check First. Picks the right check for what is in front of you, and sets the rules for every answer: never call anything safe, never open a suspicious link, and no blame. It also keeps answers short: the first line is the answer, one step at a time when something has already happened, and numbered steps.

The checks use the same rules as the free tools on this website, so both give the same answer.

What stays private

What you check stays on your device, because the plugin has nowhere to send it. Two checks go further. Hide Names swaps the details on your own computer before the assistant reads the file, and Family Safe Word writes the word to a card file without it entering the conversation.

For everything else, your assistant sees what you paste. When you would rather no assistant saw it, use the matching free tool on this website, which runs on your own phone or computer and keeps working with the internet off.

How to install it

  1. Download the plugin with the button above.
  2. Open the Claude desktop app on your computer and start a new conversation.
  3. Add the downloaded file to the conversation, and choose to install it when Claude asks.

It works in the Claude desktop app on Windows and Mac.

What it cannot do

These checks look for common warning signs. They cannot prove that a message, page, command or person is safe. UtilForge is not a bank, a security company or a legal adviser. If money has moved, phone your bank on the number on the back of your card first.
