Support UtilForge

Help build a safer online world for all.

Every UtilForge tool, the book How to Become Safer Online and the guides can be used without paying. Supporters help keep UtilForge going as a public-interest resource, with a voluntary contribution of $5, $10 or $20 a month.

Who UtilForge is for

UtilForge.org is for anyone who wants a second look before they act: people coming online for the first time or returning after a break, families who look out for one another, job seekers, and everyone who deserves access to practical online safety. Scammers target people in every one of these situations, and they deserve tools that help them protect themselves, their families and their identities.

The principle

Online safety should be accessible to everyone. UtilForge.org is committed to keeping its essential safety tools free, so that people can make more informed decisions and protect themselves without facing a financial barrier.

What your support helps make possible

Your contribution helps keep UtilForge.org going and helps more people take part safely in life online. UtilForge.org puts cybersecurity first, with practical tools and guides for a safer online world for all. Supporters help make possible:

  • Keeping all 42 online safety tools up to date and working on phones and computers.
  • Maintaining and improving the website, so people can reach practical safety resources when they need them.
  • Updating tools as technology and scams change, helping people make more informed decisions before they pay, reply or send.
  • Developing new editions of the free large-print book, How to Become Safer Online, and making online safety information accessible to more people.
  • Developing additional free resources for individuals, families, libraries and educators.

Contributions support the project as a whole, not one particular book, tool or activity. The amounts of $5, $10 and $20 a month are suggested contribution levels, not prices for books or services.

Payments are handled by Gumroad. You can change or cancel your contribution at any time.

Supporting is always optional

Every tool works in exactly the same way, whether or not you support UtilForge. There is no sign-up and no advertising, and supporting UtilForge does not unlock anything in the free tools. Some packs include extras, which are listed on the pricing page. Anything you type into a tool stays on your device.

Online safety should be accessible to everyone. UtilForge’s essential online safety tools remain free, and supporting UtilForge is entirely voluntary.

Other ways to help

  • Share the free book with someone who may find it useful.
  • Tell your local library or community centre that the free book may be printed, photocopied and shared with anyone, and that it includes a forty-five-minute session plan their own staff or volunteers can use.
  • Share a practical online safety tip with someone you know. Passing on useful knowledge can help more people recognise scams and protect themselves.

Questions about supporting

Do I need to support UtilForge to use the tools?

No. Every tool works in exactly the same way whether or not you support UtilForge, and anything you type into a tool stays on your device. Supporting is entirely voluntary.

What does my contribution help with?

It helps keep UtilForge going: the tools are kept up to date as scams change, the book gets new editions, and new resources reach more people. Contributions support the project as a whole, not one particular book, tool or activity.

Are $5, $10 and $20 prices for something?

No. They are suggested monthly contribution levels, not prices for books or services. Every tool, the book and the guides can be used without contributing.

How do I change or cancel my contribution?

At any time, from your Gumroad library or the link in your receipt. There is no minimum period.

Is UtilForge a charity?

No. UtilForge.org is published by a small company, so contributions are not tax-deductible.

Who handles the payment?

Gumroad handles the payment and sends your receipt. UtilForge never sees your card details.

Can my organisation help?

Yes. Organisations can buy Artificial Intelligence Tools for Work, or print and share the free book and its session plan with the people they serve.

Thank you for helping to build a safer online world for all.
