Someone is offering you a trading app, a crypto coin, a forex course, a “signals” group, a loan or a better pension. Check it here before any money moves.

The short answer. No checklist can show that an offer is safe. Paste an advert or a message and this page points out the tricks financial regulators warn about, such as guaranteed returns, fees to withdraw your own money and requests for a seed phrase. It links to your country's official register of firms. It is general information and not financial advice.

How it works, in four steps

  1. Paste or choosePaste the offer, or answer questions about the app, coin, course or group.
  2. The check runs on your own phone or computerWhat you add stays on your device, and the page keeps working with the internet off.
  3. Read what it found and what to do nextSee the warning signs, where to check that a firm is registered, and what to do before any money moves.
  4. What this check cannot doIt cannot confirm that a firm or an investment is genuine, and being registered does not mean an investment cannot lose money.

Questions people ask

Who made this?

UtilForge makes it. UtilForge is a website of free cybersecurity tools. The About page explains why the tools were made, and the Contact page is the way to reach us.

Is this a scam site?

You do not have to take our word for it, because you can check. This page does not ask for payment, a sign-in or card details. It is set so that your browser stops the page sending anything off your phone or computer, and you can test that: let the page finish loading, switch the internet off, then use it. It keeps working, because it has nowhere to send anything. If you are still unsure about any website, do not type anything private into it. UtilForge also sells optional packs of tools through Gumroad, and nothing on this page needs one.

What happens when I close the page?

What you pasted or typed is gone. It saves nothing in your browser and puts nothing in the web address of the page. The page has no save or download button, so it leaves no file on your device.

Does it cost anything, and do I need to sign in?

It is free, and you can start straight away. UtilForge also sells optional packs of tools through Gumroad, and nothing on this page needs one.

Can this page tell me an investment is safe?

No. The page says it is not financial advice, and no checker can tell you an investment is safe. Paste an advert or a message, or answer eight questions about an offer of a trading app, crypto, forex, a signals group, a loan or a pension move, and it points out the tricks that financial regulators warn about.

How do I check who is really behind an investment offer?

In most countries, anyone who offers investments, trading, crypto services or loans must be registered with the financial regulator. Choose where you live and look the firm up yourself on the regulator's own website. Make sure the name matches exactly, contact the firm only through the phone number and website shown on the register, and search the regulator's warning list for the name and the website address.

What should I never give to anyone who offers me an investment?

Never give your seed phrase or recovery phrase, which is the 12 or 24 words for a crypto wallet, or your private key. Never give a code sent to your phone. Do not install AnyDesk, TeamViewer or any other screen-sharing app for someone offering to help you invest.

What is leverage?

Leverage lets you trade with more money than you put in. Your profits grow, and your losses grow by exactly the same amount. The calculator on the page shows the effect: enter the money you put in, the leverage and the price move against you to see the effect. Real losses can be larger because of fees, overnight charges and prices that jump past your stop.
